MONKEY POD MIDI SET

6'-7'| Hokualele Monkeypod

This Monkeypod was grown, harvested and milled below the beautiful and sacred Kalalea Mountain.

 

A beautiful set together, shaped with a traditional alaia shaped with a pulled in tail and rounded nose.

THE FISH

7'0 | Hanalei Hau + Kukui 

 

The 7'0 Fish shaped to ride. Made with Hau rails and Kukui center, this beautiful lightweight board represents both the old and the new. A modern design of a traditional wooden board infused with two canoe plants that once played a critical role in Polynesian culture. Kukui representing light and Hau representing the transition between light and dark, life and death as well as the connection between the land and sea.

KOA 

7'11 Solid Hawaiian Koa

Many of our boards we shape in tandem together. This alaia is a brother to our Ta'i board at 8'1. Made with a pulled in tail and rounded nose, this is the more traditional alaia shape pre-contact to Western civilization.

 

Koa is endemic to Hawai’i is considered the wood of Hawaiian royalty. Brought to the islands by the ancient Polynesian voyagers, Koa is found throughout the history of Hawai’i from generation to generation. Koa, meaning ‘warrior’ or synonymous with ‘strong’ was used by early Hawaiians to build canoes, surfboards, weaponry and ukulele.

 

This Koa was harvested from Polihale ridge on the west side of Kaua'i and shaped from one solid piece. Finished with our Kaua'i made matte finish from all natural ingredients.
